Social media use blog

Why is it so hard to choose between what is right and what is convenient? According to Tony Dungy, integrity is a reflection of what is right and not what is convenient. Social media has given us a platform to showcase our creativity and easily share the public's content. Sadly, we misuse the freedom by often choosing what is convenient without thinking whether it is right or not.

The article Facebook, Twitter Take Action to Maintain Election Integrity as Vote Counting Continues interests me because "social media war" remains a threat in the world's better parts, especially during the election periods. The United States is not an exception.

Often, people, especially the most influential persons, use their social media platforms to share their thoughts and often share what is convenient to them without assessing its truth.

During the U.S. Presidential Election period, which has been characterized by uncertainties, Twitter, and Facebook, which are some of the most influential platforms, have been trying to curb potential misinformation and reportage according to Social Media News. The two social media platforms have been doing so to maintain integrity but ensuring that only what is verified is accessible by the public.

The article relates to my use of Facebook. I have come across potential misinformation and reportage aimed at misleading people, where influential persons have shared unverified information to the public, leading to a state of confusion and unrest.

The efforts to curb potential misinformation and reportage in Facebook and Twitter and replace them with banners in the news feed to the U.S. social media users, indicating that the counting of the votes is still in progress, nullify self-proclaimed victory.

As a Twitter user, I have come across furious warnings to premature victory claims, or unverified questioning of the election's integrity and vote counting process, as the final counts continue. I feel that Facebook and Twitter have played a vital role in ensuring that the platforms have been used to air only verified information.

I find the article interesting because it has aspects of promoting integrity for the benefit of its users and restoration decency and sanity.
